The Boulder Bank

The Boulder Bank is a very unusual naturally formed land form in Nelson, New Zealand.  It is a 13 kilometre long stretch of rocky  substrate which begins at the Mackay Bluff and ends at the Cut of the Nelson Hurbour. Haulashore Island was once a part of the Boulder Bank, but since the Cut was made it is an island, and no longer connected to the Boulder Bank. The Boulder Bank separates Tasman Bay and the Nelson Haven.  The Boulder Bank is composed of granodiorite. The source of this rock is Mackay Bluff. It is still debated what process or processes have resulted in this odd structure. Longshore drift? Tasman Bay does not receive enough wave action to move the large boulders in a south west direction. Studies have been conducted since 1892 to determine speed of boulder movement. Rates of the top course gravel movement have been estimated at 7.5 metres a year. however this is the most accepted hypothesis for creation. 

My Brother (Tom). Aaahhh!!!

"Tom! give me the TV remote" I  screamed. "I want to watch Glee!"

"But I want to watch cartoons and plus I had the TV remote first," said Tom.

"SO I was born first! Hahah!" I shouted.

I shoved Tom out of the way and got the remote, but he pulled my hair and pulled me over to the chair and held me down.

"I'll go and tell Mum! No actually I won't. I'm much too cool to do that, unlike you," I mumbled.

"MUM!!" he shouted.

"Now my children stop fighting and go out side and play," said my mum.

"Fine" we  both said.

Our Mice

We got mice on Wednesday.

We got 3 mice. One is a short haired brown female, another is a long haired black and white female, and the other is a very long haired brown and white male. 
Our mice have an awesome cage with the coolest wheel that the mice run on all the time. 
Before we got our cage that we have now we had a small black cage, but the mice kept getting out of it in the night, so every morning  Dave found them hiding in the corner of the classroom. 
We have to clean their cage every day because they pee and poo everywhere but the pee is the reason why we clean. 
We get to take them home in the weekends and my time to take them home is only three weeks away. Yay!! 
But the thing I like best about them is they're so so so so so so so so CUTE!

My Goals For Term 3

My goals for this term are:
To  get 100 in basic facts by learning my facts.
To get better at spelling by reading more books.
To hand my work in on time.
To make full sentences in my reading contracts.

Cross Country

I did Cross County 3 weeks ago.  At first I didn't want to do it but then the day came. 
When the bell rang after lunch I said to myself "This is it". 
I went to the front and I heard the  loud speaker say 'Year 6 girls come to the start line'.
I went to the start line and heard  Dave say "1 2 3 GO!!"
I sprinted as fast as I could until I realised I would lose all my puff so I jogged. I got puffed at the back field but I kept going. I walked up the stars and then ran down the hill until I got back to the front. I had made the first lap and now I had to do one more.

I ran around the front and back to the back field. I walked up the stairs and up to the adventure playground. I ran down the hill. "Almost there", I said to myself.

I ran into the finish line and -  YES 6th!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
